On Sunday, April 15, 2:00 PM at the Chatham Township Municipal Building Laura Gellott, a retired history professor in Wisconsin, will tell Helen’s story, as well as her own tale of discovery that eventually led her to Chatham. It will be the story of the speaker's search for the author of the book that inspired her life's work. Summit's Helen Perry Curtis turned out to be more interesting than she ever imagined. On Sunday evening, March 18, 2018, from 6:00pm to 8:30pm come dine and socialize with your family, friends and neighbors at the 31st Annual “Taste of Summit” hosted by the Grand Summit Hotel located at 570 Springfield Avenue in Summit. The “Taste of Summit” is a gourmet extravaganza featuring more than 20 of Summit’s finest restaurants and food merchants. Each restaurant will be serving delicious “tastes” showcasing their special dishes spanning many cuisines, including Italian, Japanese, American and Mexican. There will also be scrumptious desserts from Summit’s finest bakers and a cash bar.

To get a head start on your holiday shopping, this year our annual Holiday Boutique will take place before Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 16th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with our “Carter House by Candlelight” taking place Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. This year’s Boutique will feature many new vendors, in addition to our best-selling vendors from previous years, who will be selling a wide variety of items suitable for holiday shoppers, including clothing, jewelry, art, floral arrangements and canine treats plus award winning jams, chocolates and organic items.
Join The League of New Jersey Historical Societies, as the Summit Historical Society co-hosts their fall membership meeting on Saturday, November 4. After a continental breakfast, a short League business meeting and musical interlude, Madison’s architectural historian and historic preservation consultant, Janet W. Foster, will give the keynote speech “This Happened Here…but it’s hard to see now.” A catered lunch will be provided during which attendees can network. In the afternoon, there will be self-guided tours of historical sites in Summit.
