A Summit Story: Writing Helen Perry Curtis Back into History

  • Chatham Township Municipal Building 58 Meyersville Road Chatham Township, NJ, 07928 United States (map)

This is the story of the speaker's search for the author of the book that inspired her life's work.  Summit's Helen Perry Curtis turned out to be more interesting than she ever imagined.

A Nebraska native who later settled in Summit, Helen served with the YMCA in France in WWI, led tours through Europe in the 1930’s, and ran the Refugee Relief Workrooms in Summit post-WWII.  Helen was an author, a museum director, and an interior designer
